Artist's Comments

this is the first thing i've done for class that i really like. we had to create four different images in adobe illustrator, using a chosen animal, that express "love, anger, distraction, & human energy/power," but to accomplish it through composition and line quality rather than the animal's actions. this was what i came up with for "love" -- since it took a long time the rest are rushed and not very good.

over the past two weeks i've been teaching myself to use illustrator (since i needed to for a commission), but this is my first finished piece using the program.

reference of the owl from a magazine clipping was used.
title from "milk thistle" by conor oberst (you bring peace to midnight like a spotted owl).

bring peace to midnight by =lostsoulx44 "The painterly look adds a unique touch. I've always thought =lostsoulx44 has had an impeccable eye for color, and her works are aesthetically soothing. I look at this owl and smile. Look at the rest of her gallery, I'm sure you'll smile too." (Suggested by ~Studio-Snafu and Featured by ^Ikue)

This is beautiful. :) It really reminds me of the owls that used to roost in the woods outside my window back in Ohio. They helped me get to sleep every night. Way to capture their beauty and peacefulness without losing the lines of the predator.

Owls are one of my favorite animals, and this is beautifully done. Great job!

You and your owls. :)

I love how the green blends in with the yellow eyes, and the blotchiness of the background. The lineart's quite well done too. I can see how this took you awhile!

It'd be interesting to see the other three, just to see what you did. I would be interested, anyway...

I am going to have to hate you now, that is one of the most beautiful vectors I have ever seen! The colours are amazing, and although i dont think the owl was naturally green and probably isnt feeling see sick, it works awesomely! The eyes are amazing aswell!

Only criticism is that the composition drops off a bit, the top isnt balanced and it makes it look a bit unfinished. But im nit picking really. Its all great!

Keep up the good stuff lady white!

Regards
Matt
